# ThinLinc Presentation - Henrik Bilar, MAN Group @ CARLA 2020

[MAN Group](https://man.com) is an active investment management firm based in London, with over US$100b under management. The AlphaTech division researched a number of remote desktop solutions for their team during an upgrade from RHEL 5 to CentOS 7, and finally settled on ThinLinc.

The following presentation was kindly given by Staff Engineer Henrik Bilar, as part of the [CARLA 2020](https://carla2020.org) HPC conference.

- **Abstract:** _MAN Group uses high-performance computing infrastructure to implement their quant strategies, which involves writing software to make intelligent trading decisions. In this presentation, Staff Engineer Henrik Bilar describes MAN Group’s journey into the world of Linux-based remote desktops, how they implement them for their roughly 300 users, and why they chose ThinLinc as the method for accessing them_
- _Henrik Bilar is Staff Engineer for the Quant Infrastructure team at MAN AlphaTech. He has 20+ years of experience running Linux, and am MSc in Advanced Computer Science from Birkbeck University in London._
