When trying to remotely connect, everything looks good until I get to the profile chooser or should get to the profile chooser screen.
Actually, I get a black screen for a fraction of a second and then I get the ThinLinc splash screen, bue/white with the 4 kids lower right. And no profile chooser at all. And no error message whatsoever.
Why isn’t thinlinc going into the profile choosing process?
I don’t see anything in the xinit.log to clue me in.
Is thinlinc not liking any of the desktop environments that are available in Centos Stream 9?
Note that I have tried servers with Ubuntu 22.04 and Ubuntu 24.04 and it works just fine, but CentOS Stream 9 is problematic for some reason.
Thanks for your help!
PS: I am not logged in on the server as I saw this as a possible reason for this happening
If there are no executable desktop environments, then ThinLinc should let you know. So something is preventing the profile chooser from displaying correctly.
Hi Aaron, just for an experiment, i created a second user and the profile chooser now pops up with a choice of gnome and gnome classic.
So, for some reason, thinlinc thinks that the first user is still logged in even though nobody is using the machine but me. The last time I logged in physically as the first user was yesterday and I have to assume that first user was auto logged out a long while ago. But maybe it is not auto logged out. I will have to check on that.
