Is it possible to have a profile option for a subcluster rather than a DE?
I would like users to be able to select between different classes of machine. For example some agents have a dedicated GPU. Currently the agents are divided by subcluster, but I am happy to change that if needed.
It seems the place for this would be the profile selection menu, but any other way for there to be a graphical selection of various options would do.

Thanks for posting, it’s a good question. By the time the user is presented with the profile chooser, they’re already on an agent. So unfortunately it can’t be done there.
Determining which agent a user ends up on is the job of the load balancer. Subclusters can be used to direct users or groups to specific agents, but users are not able to choose for themselves which agent they end up on.
One option might be to split the different classes of machine into separate clusters (not subclusters; separate clusters each with its own master server), and give users the choice of which one they connect to. Would there be a suitable place for a feature request?
It seems like having users be able to choose between subclusters (rather than choosing an agent) would suit our use case, and loadbalancing could still be done within each subcluster.

I guess it’s a question of definition, but “subclusters” as defined in ThinLinc probably won’t provide what you’re after. You’d really need two separate clusters - what’s missing is the ability for users to easily choose between them in the client interface. This feature is currently being tracked as bug 5503:
