macOS Client: Users soon warned via Popup of End of Rosetta Translation Support

Hello,

the ThinLinc client for macOS is currently supplied as an intel-only build.
Starting with macOS 26.4 (due to release in the next couple of weeks), macOS will start displaying notifications informing users that “this application might not work on a future release of macOS”, requiring acknowledgement before launching the application.
Apple Support already has updated their documentation in preparation of this.

Rosetta is currently announced to be available through macOS 27, and will no longer be available starting with macOS 28 in late 2027; however, the popups will start soon.

Is there a timeline for either a universal build, comprising both intel and Apple Silicon binaries, or a dedicated Apple Silicon build ?

Thanks in advance for any information you can share !

Hi @chris-at-ethz,

I believe this is on the roadmap for the end of this year. @CendioOssman does that sound about right?

That is the hope, yes. But there are a bunch of technical hurdles to overcome. Mainly when it comes to build infrastructure.
