Hi everyone,
We recently returned from the GOOD26 (Global Open OnDemand Conference) in Utah, and we are thrilled to share some exciting updates with the ThinLinc community!
This 4-day event brought together the brightest minds in the Open OnDemand (OOD) ecosystem to discuss the future of remote supercomputing access. Cendio was incredibly proud to support this community as the sole Platinum Sponsor of the event.
Our deep involvement at GOOD26 highlights a major milestone we’ve been working on: integrating ThinLinc directly into Open OnDemand. This initiative was initially requested by our partner, Microsoft Azure, to bring enhanced visualization to OOD environments running with Azure CycleCloud Workspace for Slurm.
Between our sponsorship and our ongoing technical integrations, ThinLinc was front and center at the conference. If you couldn’t make it to Utah, don’t worry! We’ve indexed all the key presentations featuring ThinLinc below so you can catch up on the latest advancements in HPC desktops and interactive graphical applications.
Watch the ThinLinc Presentations from GOOD26
1. Supporting Interactive Graphical Applications with ThinLinc in Open OnDemand
Presented by Robert Henschel (HPC Lead, Cendio) and Mattias Reuterskiöld (Developer, Cendio)
This session is a deep dive into how ThinLinc and OOD work together. It covers our Linux terminal server solution’s technical integration into OOD, the features you can expect, and includes a demo of the current beta release.
2. Open OnDemand on Azure CycleCloud
Presented by Xavier Pillons (Principal TPM - Azure Core - HPC)
Learn how to deploy and operate OOD on Azure CycleCloud Workspace for Slurm. This session explores dynamic partition discovery, browser-based VS Code, and specifically highlights when and how to leverage Cendio ThinLinc for enhanced visualization.
3. HPC Desktops — A Different Kind of Interactive Supercomputing
Presented by Robert Henschel (HPC Lead, Cendio)
Imagine combining the massive power of HPC systems with the everyday convenience of a standard desktop. This talk breaks down the architecture, use cases, and real-world experiences of operating HPC Desktops to lower the barrier of entry for supercomputing.
4. Supporting Interactive Graphical Applications with Open OnDemand, on Premise and in Azure
Presented by Robert Henschel (HPC Lead, Cendio) and Xavier Pillons (Principal TPM - Azure Core - HPC)
A Birds of a Feather (BoF) session bringing together users and resource providers. The discussion focuses on running interactive graphical apps in OOD—ranging from web apps like Jupyter Notebooks to heavy desktop applications like RStudio, Matlab, and VS Code.
We are incredibly excited about the future of ThinLinc within the Open OnDemand ecosystem and our continued partnership with Microsoft Azure.
