User login issue - Login failed!

Hi there,

I’m brand new here and just trying to evaluate ThinLinc as a potential replacement for HP Anyware. I’ve set it up on my Linux machine (Rocky 9.5) and I’ve installed the client on my Mac. For some reason I can’t authenticate though. I get an error dialogue that says “Login failed! Wrong username or password.” I’ve tried my local Linux credentials as well as the root credentials for the machine. Do I need to setup a special ThinLinc user somewhere? Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Naveen

Hi Naveen,

Welcome, and thanks for giving ThinLinc a look as a replacement for HP Anyware.

I’ve set it up on my Linux machine (Rocky 9.5) and installed the client on my Mac… Do I need to setup a special ThinLinc user somewhere?

No special ThinLinc user is needed. Your local Linux credentials should work fine, so nothing extra to set up there. To figure out what’s going wrong, could you run the client and try connecting with debug logging on?

Start the ThinLinc client with debug by running tlclient -d 5.

Then send over the resulting log. On Mac and Linux, it’s located at ~/.thinlinc/tlclient.log.
