Win 11 connecting to Fedora 42: Server name not resolvable

I have TL Server running on a Fedora 42 KDE desktop. I installed the TL client on my Win 11 Pro Thinkpad but when I try to connect to the Fedora box I get an error:

Server name “TestPC” not resolvable. Check your settings.

If I login to the ThinLinc Web Administration app on the Fedora box I can see under System Health that Master, Agent, and Web Access are all running. I am not logged in to the Fedora box when attempting to login via the TL client on my Win 11 Thinkpad.

I am a Linux newbie and new to Thinlinc – trying to migrate away from Windows.

Any ideas how to resolve this connection issue?

Hi,

This sounds like a network/DNS issue rather than anything to do with ThinLinc. You’ll need to make sure that “TestPC” is a fully resolvable hostname, and reachable from the client. Otherwise, you can use the IP address of the ThinLinc server instead if you want to avoid having to configure DNS.

Hope that helps.

Hi @aaron sorry I forgot to mention that I had already tried connecting via IP address but got the same error. I had to move on so I gave up on Linux (again), reinstalled Windoze & Anydesk on my test pc, and am able to connect remotely.
