When I go back to the client desktop, Alt+Tab shows Thinlinc as last window to alternate (not most recent)

This is a bit hard to explain, but here I go. So, my client and my host are both using Ubuntu 23.04. I can access the host via Thinlinc with no problems. I always do so with full-screen on all monitors.

When I am accessing the host via Thinlinc, if I hit the Popup Menu key and then “Minimize”, I successfully go back to my client screen. However, if I want to alternate back to the open Thinlinc (connected to my host), I must Alt+Tab through all open program windows. That is, Thinlinc does not stay in the alt+tab queue as the most recently accessed program (if it was, it would be the first program reached when alt-tabing). Instead, it always stays in the very end of the queue.

Would this be something that is possible to fix? I know it’s minor, but because in my line of work I keep alternating between client and host all the time, this gets a bit cumbersome.

Thanks for this amazing product, anyways!

Hi @Lucy_Z,

Thanks for your post!

Unfortunately the window-switching behaviour is determined by your local (client) window manager, not ThinLinc; you’ll get the same behaviour regardless of the application(s) in use. A lot of people have complained about this in GNOME though, so you’re not alone.

I just tested in another desktop environment (MATE) and the same thing happens there. I was able to switch backwards through the window list using Shift+Alt+Tab though, so if this works in GNOME too then perhaps it might be useful.
